Contested Spaces - Terraforming

The technical issues that had plagued us over the last few weeks are now resolved and we can begin work on creating the environment for the game which the two groups of young people will play.

At the moment it is a barren island on which we will 'build' our own environment to a set specification.

Over the next two months LiquidIceDesign along with The Creativity Hub will commence building the arena and the playing field for the game. It is hoped that in September the game will start and run for 4/5 months.

There should be some interesting aspects of this approah and we are all a little bit excited, apprehensive maybe as to whether it will succeed in what we want it to do. Will it create a contested space and will it allow the young people to produce a strategy to cope with this space and its conflict achieving some sort of understanding and what is more important will the learning from it be carried over into real life.

Can we make use of the virtual world to affect the real world?

How will we know it has happened? How will we measure any impacts?

Lets hear from you as to what you think or do you know of any similar programmes - the more the merrier.
