Pride of Place Ceremony

The Co-operaiton Ireland Pride of Place Awards Ceremony was, as I predicted. a night of celebration for those groups who with won in their categoty or came runner-up.
People from all over the island, braved the terrible weather and made a real occasion of the night. Groups from Kerry to Derry and everywhere in between made the journey to Newcastle, Co Down and by all accounts it was worth their effort.
Time and time again we heard about the magnificent work people do to help others in their community - whether it be a through improving community spaces or organising child care facilities for mothers returning to work.
Gerry Kelly, the well-known media broadcaster was MC for the night. He did an excellent job of keeping the evening moving - there were so many groups honoured for their work. the Minister for Social Development Margaret Ritchie MLA, along with Co-operation Ireland's Chairman Christopher Moran paid tribute to all the people innominated and the work they undertook.
Everyone was a winner.
Were you there? Please tell us about your night.
