The Road to Kilimanjaro

Reading through the info, the trek to Kilimanjaro sounds absolutely fabulous and apparently is one of life's greatest challenges. Talking to a few people about this trip, it sounds like there are quite a number of you out there who watched the celebrities take it on last year and are now thinking 'if they can do it, so can I'. If you are one of them, I would love to hear back from you. Any questions on the trek welcome.

The Road to Kilimanjaro did you know the author lives in Ireland
The true story about Geoff Salisbury taking a group of blind Africans up Kilimanjaro is one which all those who walk up the mountain should read, sadly it is out of print but there some secondhand books on sale. The author now lives in Westport in an old people's home with his wife who came from the area around Westport. I get over to see them as he is my Uncle and I followed his example by working overseas for most of my life. He also wrote a book about WW2 when he was shot down and worked with the French Resistance, this book is "The Last Flight Path". Last year I went to the area he was serving with the FR and met up with persons he knew and places he lived and fought. If anyone is interested in this great man please contact me at tybrith@talktalk.net
Stuart P. Pearson
Mr Geoffrey Salisbury
Have read extensively about this fine chap, his RAF career and his excellent work with the blind. My own father served in the RAF, hence my interest. Glad to hear that he and his good wife are still with us and I wish them well.
It is such a good reflection on the man that his Nephew, Mr Pearson, has dedicated his life to the service of others - such a rare quality these days when the sole interest of many is the acquisition of money for personal gain, with no thought for others. Regards,
Mr Harold Chelmsford
