News from the Co-operation Ireland Kilimanjaro Trekkers

Yesterday a call from the group of 21 trekkers, 3700m up Mount Kilimanjaro confirmed that everyone was in great spirits and enjoying the trek.   They had already trekked up to 4200m to get a little bit used to the altitude before ascending to 3700m for the overnight stop.  Today the group are heading to Kibo at 4700m which will take around 7-8 hours, entering the 'desert' zone this afternoon which can be slow going and cold due to the high altitude.  According to the guide with the group,  probably half the group will begin to feel the affects of the high al

Etape du Tour 2011

Tommy O'Reilly, a great supporter of Co-operation Ireland, is taking on the challenge of next year's Etape du Tour in support of our charity.  Tommy would like some company, so if there is any mad like-minded cyclists out there who would like the challenge of cycling in the French Alps, this might be your chance.  Here's what Tommy has to say:

Vietnam to Cambodia Bike Ride

There are numerous charity challenges out there and for anyone wanting to take on a personal challenge and do something positive, both for themselves and to support a favourite charity, taking on a sporting challenge may be the way to go.  The Vietnam to Cambodia Bike Ride scheduled for February 2011 is Co-operation Ireland's next big trip of a lifetime.

Calling all Marathon Runners

The ING NYC Marathon is surely the most popular marathon in the world, annually attracting over 100,000 entries with only 38,000 places available.  There is so much to see in New York during your 26.4 mile run which takes in all five boroughs of the city, many of the bridges and famous landmarks, and the finish line right in the middle of Central Park.   We can take all the hassle out of making your arrangements to ensure you get to the start line on Sunday 7 November 2010.  All you need to do is raise sponsoship for Co-operation Ireland and get out and train.  You

The Road to Kilimanjaro

Reading through the info, the trek to Kilimanjaro sounds absolutely fabulous and apparently is one of life's greatest challenges.  Talking to a few people about this trip, it sounds like there are quite a number of you out there who watched the celebrities take it on last year and are now thinking 'if they can do it, so can I'.    If you are one of them, I would love to hear back from you.  Any questions on the trek welcome.

Hillsborough Event

Thursday 7 May 2009
It was a great honour to be one of the staff who was invited to attend the reception at Hillsborough Castle last night and I would just like to thank Co-operation Ireland for giving me the opportunity. It was honour to meet and talk to the Queen, Prince Philip, President Mary McAleese and Dr Martin McAleese. The photograph taken with the VIPs and Staff will take pride of place in the office for a long time to come.
Last night I was proud to be part of Team Co-operation Ireland.
